We support disadvantaged 11-30 year olds to get their lives on track.

Story

On the 21st November I’m going to attempt to jump out of a plane at 10,000 feet.

Am I mad? Yes. Am I scared? Yes. Will I do it? Don't know! Let me tell you this……

3 of reasons why I shouldn’t be attempting it:

  1. I got vertigo when I stood on the 8th floor of an office block and looked out of the window the other day.

  1. I can’t take my little boy down the slide at the park or on the swings with me without feeling like my insides are doing somersaults and going dizzy.

  1. When I last went in a small aircraft (a 4 seater), I almost had to use the sick bag and was a delicate shade of green for 2 hours after touch down. I swore then I would never get in a small plane again(!)

But here is the 1 reason why I should be attempting it:

Its fair to say that most people reading this have come from the sort of background and upbringing that afforded them the support, encouragement and opportunities that enabled them to get on in life. We have good jobs, wear nice clothes, go on holiday, etc. We may take this for granted and constantly strive for more. But some young people have much less than us. They have no support, no encouragement and no opportunities to get on in life. They become stuck in a rut with no qualifications and no chance of getting a job. Some end up in care, breaking the law or become homeless. These people are extremely vulnerable, but they just want a chance to make a go of it and sort their lives out. If you think you are hard up at the moment – think how hard up those young people are right now.

The Prince’s Trust helps young people between 14 and 30 years of age to overcome barriers and get their lives working by giving practical and financial support and developing skills such as confidence and motivation. On behalf of Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce I aim to raise at least £2,000 for this charity.

Chamber Members who sponsor me £10 or more will have their logo and a link to their website placed on the Chamber website, so even more reason to dig deep and get your company promoted too! Have a look on our website to see who has already sponsored me www.gmchamber.co.uk

This is a team effort from the Chamber. 2 other crazy people will be attempting it with me too - Matt and Holly!

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Prince's Trust gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me now!
