Length and Breadth of the Island, on a 70 year old tractor...

It is often said that the greatest plans and ideas are formed in the pub.
And since we are students at an agricultural college, the probability that the pub conversation will turn to tractors (much to the distress of our female companions) approaches ever closer to one as the evening progresses.
So, one night, bursting with youthful optimism (and alcohol), an idea -- a challenge, was conceptualised.
The length and breadth of the island. On a 1949 tractor.
Dover Castle -- Land's End -- John O'Groats -- and back to AGCO Head Quarters (Coventry)-- Help for Heroes.
To make it more difficult (sorry, interesting) for ourselves, the steed we have chosen is a Ferguson TE-20 tractor from the late 1940s, an 'icon' of British engineering and industry.
So we are looking at a journey of around 2000 miles.
At 15 miles per hour...
This means around 2 weeks of driving for the majority of the day… not accounting for any breakdowns or navigational mishaps.
The reason for taking on this challenge is to raise money for Help For Heroes. We hope that with enough sponsorship and fund raising, we will collect £5,000 for this fantastic cause.
Hopefully after securing all of our sponsors for parts and fuel etc, this challenge can be made possible.
We would be very grateful if you could make a donation, small or large, to something that will definitely help, and change lives. The link above shows our webpage with Just Giving as our chosen charity body. We are registered with Help For Heroes as you will see.
This challenge will be taking place on the 17th June.
Please click above to donate; all donations will be received with much appreciation, for making this a worthy challenge, that will make a difference…
