Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my "Craig Runs for Little Natty" page.
One Saturday in September last year I decided it would be a good idea to take my daughter, Eloise, out for the day as my wife, Jane, 6 months pregnant, had been suffering from "heartburn", had not been sleeping well and therefore needed some rest. Upon our return however Jane was feeling much worse.
After a trip to the out of hours GP we were rushed off to Queens Hospital Burton. It turns out that Jane's self-diagnosis is not up to much - what she was feeling was not heartburn, but the symptoms of HELLP Syndrome! So in the early hours of the following morning (16th September) Natalie Amy Walker made a somewhat unexpected appearance by emergency Caesarian section, weighing in at just 1lb 9oz.
Natalie was initially transferred to Birmingham Women's Hospital but she wanted to be with Mum so much that she removed her own ventilator and, having coped well without it, the next day was transferred back to the Neonatal Unit (NNU) in Burton where she spent the next 13 weeks.
During this extremely difficult time there were many ups and downs but the care we all recieved throughout from the staff on the Neonatal Unit was second to none, and we can't thank them enough.
By running the Half Marathon and raising money for the Queen's Hospital Burton Neonatal Unit I hope to give back to those who have given us so much. And of course to celebrate the miracle that is "Little Natty"!
Thank you.
Craig
