Story

This is Ronnie on the left, without the Evelina Children's Hospital his and many other lives would not be saved. This is the reason I am running the London Marathon.

The Marathon is now so close and this is when I really need your support and encouragement. Please feel free to email me or sound your horn if you see me out running .My email address is lofty611@aol.com. Some friendly encouragement can do wonders. Please continue reading to find out why this charity means a lot to me and my friends. Please see my online blog at http://www.realbuzz.com/en-gb/blogs/index?pageID=1997&blog=9131 to see how I am doing re my training and latest news on Ronnie.

On May 15th 2007 Ronnie was rushed to The Evelina Children's Hospital and had life saving bowel surgery following a diagphragmatic hernia. It was touch and go but he survived and remained in the Evelina for another 4 months receiving the best care imaginable before being transferred to Lewisham Hospital where he still remains.

The wonderful Ziggy Pickles shop in Broadstairs has been very helpful with sponsorship and ideas. Prentice the Greengrocers are helping me with my 5 a day and have pulled out all the stops for this charity. Please support these local businesses who are supporting me.

Since I joined the Evelina Marathon team I have heard more stories that filled me with joy, sadness and inspiration. For all the niggles, aches and pains I have had, they all seem insignificant when I think about my first visit to the hospital, whats happened since and the stories I have heard.

I have been training 4 days a week, clocking up 20-30 miles a week, using up the majority of my free time which is difficult when you have a wedding to plan for 2 weeks after the marathon. So it's a big thank you to Sam for being so understanding and supportive.

So I have told you why I am doing this and what I have been doing. So what can you do? Well it's fairly simple and easy. You won't get any blisters, sit back, relax and let me do the work. Above and below are little bits saying "sponsor us now". Click on it and donate as much as you can afford, every penny counts.

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep. and sponsor me online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Evelina Children's Hospital Appeal will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
