My story

Hi All,

Thank you for visiting our justgiving page.

Team Little Ted are taking part in a sponsored 100km bike ride in Tonbridge Kent and raising money for Demelza Hospice Care for Children - Eltham. Demelza House cares for children and their families with life limiting or life threatening illnesses.  They provide short-term breaks for families, day care, social and family support, palliative care and symptom control care to children and young adults.  You can find out more about this fantastic charity by following the link http://www.demelza.org.uk

So why are we doing this? Well, the beautiful boy in the picture is our son, Ethan Edward.  At 3 months old in March 2010 Ethan was diagnosed with a brain tumour.  When the words 'neuro surgeon' entered our regular vocabulary, we knew all our lives would change forever.  Ethan has endured multiple major surgeries, suffered from strokes, had many set backs, long stays in various hospitals, and on more than one occasion we were told that he wouldn’t make it, yet despite this he has bravely fought back time and time again.  Along our journey we met Demelza House.  Walking through the doors of a children's hospice for the first time was something as a parent / friend / relative you never ever imagine you have to do.  However, Demelza house have been there for us as a family and were able to give us so much support and care for Ethan.  Our links through Demelza actually opened the doors to Great Ormond Street children's hospital. Ethan is now at Great Ormond Street undertaking chemotherapy drug treatment and smiles everyday now as he makes great progress!

The reason Demelza can provide these truly invaluable services to very poorly children and their families is because their staff, values and energy are incredible.  They can only continue this by receiving 90% of their funding from donations / fundraising and legacies.  Therefore Team Little Ted (led by Ethan's godfather Mark, and myself, his Dad) are doing the Castle 100km bike ride on May 15th 2011, raising money for this fantastic charity.

Please give what you can and support us for this great cause!

Love

Ed, Alli, Ethan, Uncle Mark, Our Family and all of Team Little Ted !
