MATT and SOOZ are going to.......KILI-MAN-JAROOOOOOOOOOO!
in January 2011 we will be flying to Tanzania and climbing Mount kilimanjaro - gulp.
We are funding the cost of the flight/equipment/trek out of our own pockets so 100% of the money you donate will go directly to Make a Wish Foundation which grants magical wishes to children and young people fighting life-threatening illnesses.
Mount Kilimanjaro is the higest mountain in Africa and is amongst the tallest freestanding mountains in the flippin' world, at around 19, 341 feet. It will take us around ten days to reach the summit.
We've started training at weekends and we're slowly gathering our kit together... although nothing will quite prepare us for the thinning oxygen,hypothermia,shallow breathing,nausea, ataxia and headaches of high altitutde sickness (which start to occur at around 8-12,000 feet...oh good)...oh well, i'm sure we'll get some nice pictures!
it's going to be tough but it will be worth every second if we can raise some money for a very worthy charity who help the once in a lifetime dreams come true for children who aren't as lucky as you, me and most of the people we all know.
