Ladies and Gentlemen,

Thank you for visiting our page! Next step is to close your eyes and imagine what we have decided to undertake. This is going to be 26.2 miles of pure, unadulterated love between our feet and the London roads.... hopefully!

Our team of 10 Paula Radcliffe wannabes will be running the marathon on the 26th April 2009 for the worthy charity SENSE.

SENSE is the largest organisation offering support to deafblind people and their families. SENSE offers a range of services including advice, housing, education and practical help for children and adults who are deaf and blind! Well worth scrambling together that spare change!

FUNDRAISING UPDATE:

Firstly, thank you for visiting our fundraising page! We have a number of events planned to try and raise this target. So keep an eye out for posters etc. Thank you to those who have already donated, you will make the 'thigh burn' bearable!

Please read on to see just how crazy this challenge is - not only the marathon day but the serious mileage being covered in training!!!

TRAINING:

11 weeks to go - 15 mile run exhausts us as we begin to gear up the training

368 training miles to go...

10 weeks to go  - This week we tried increasing the training to 4 times a week. 10-12 miles long run over of the Wirral. We started early, getting up at 7.30am on the Sunday to start running at 9am, with the aim of not letting the long run take over our day. We all completed it successfully.... another few miles under our belt...

9 weeks to go - Sefton park was the home of our weekday runs. We all know Sefton so well now that we can run around it without thinking now. There was even a film crew out - So keep an eye out for some toned thighs on Hollyoaks in the future!!

8 weeks to go - 16 mile run over on the Wirral, following a dental conference. At this point we realised that lack of sleep and rehydration of the wrong type really does hold you back in training!!

7 weeks to go - 12 miles once again we travelled back to the Wirral where Mr C had planned another route for us. This time taking us along the beach front at West Kirby. Even a slight sun tan followed....

6 weeks to go - 18 miles following the Annual dental ball a couple of members of the dental committee were absent from the run due to exhaustion... it just goes to show that training seems to take over your life after a while... Three of the team made it to the 18 mile mark. Frozen and looking a little worse for wear I saw them return to the house and either go straight to bed or dissapear under a blanket. A long old run..

5 weeks to go - 12 miles, we pounded our way along the Wirral way from West Kirby, frantically trying to make sure that we weren't running on the horse track. Conclusion of this run - a human cannot out run a horse. FACT Another 12 miles under the belt. Oh yeah, special mention to Mr C the pace setter who decided to punish us in the last few miles!! It'll be worth it in the end! A well deserved portion of fish and chips was inhailed at the end of the fun...

4 weeks to go - 20 MILES, the longest distance that we will run in training saw the team go their separate ways, 2 team members headed over to the Wirral to run with MR C whilst the others found time to run the 20 miles individually at home. That can't have been fun at all!!! The Wirral run was similar to the 12 miles last time.. but double. This was our first training session with gel isotonic solution. It seemed to do the job... a lot better than HARIBO as we found out later... 20 miles done. only 6 to go

4.5 weeks to go - 13.1 Miles. The Liverpool Half Marathon. MR C entered this marathon officially. Whilst the remaining students ran the route after it was finished saving 26 quid! After some rather funky map reading we completed it... even managing to run with a sign saying 'Caution Runners ahead.' - temporarily borrowed from the race course.

The committment that we are making to training has now gone up a gear. Please please please dig deep and support us. Spread the word. We are still a long way off our fundraising target.

Thanks for visiting our fundraising page... any sponsorship will be greatly appreciated by us and the charity.

Plus - if anyone does see us hobbling up and down the stairs of the dental hospital PLEASE OFFER TO CARRY US THE REMAINING DISTANCE!!

Please take the time to sponsor us as much as you can to help us reach our glorious target!!

Will Thompson, Andy Carragher, Nik Ruggles, Hari Kaur, Colin Harvey-Woodworth, Rupa Biant, Mike Teft, Danny Rennox and Ashwin Parekh
