Sponsored by Racing Post and Markel - with extreme thanks!

I am delighted, terrified and proud in equal measures to be riding in the St Patrick's Day Derby on 17th March at the Cheltenham Festival (in front of an odd 50,000 people or so!) to raise money for Cancer Research. (See my blog at http://www.racingpost.com/blog/horse-racing/liz-ampairee/)

I need to raise a massive amount of money so please do donate as much as you can - it is a cause that we all know only too well.

In advance, I'd like to thank Henry Ponsonby who runs some really fun ownership syndicates and is kindly lending me his horse, and Alan King and all his staff, who train my horse and who have all been amazingly helpful and kind.

Also, trainers Emma Lavelle (and Barry Fenton), and David Arbuthnot who have let me ride their horses - as well as Roger and Sharon Ingram for putting up with me for the last three years, and Bob Buckler (and family - including Mark Weeks) for always giving me so much help and advice.

Also, jockeys, Richard Dunwoody (quote when I rode in my first race "it doesn't matter if you get run away with as long as you look stylish"!), Bob Champion and Sam Thomas. Brough Scott for advising me about this race, and all my great colleagues at the Racing Post. Jilly Cooper for being so kind and going out of her way for me, and Sarah Sawyer, who turned me from a muppet into someone who at least vaguely knows what to do on a racehorse! Plus Cheltenham Racecourse, for hosting this great initiative and especially Becks Morgan for her advice.

And without this turning into as Oscar speech, thanks also to my family, friends, and everyone who donates, especially to my Mother (aka The Racing Ferret) who has taken out a special fundraising licence so she can raise money for me across Dorset!

Last but certainly not least, 'my' horse, King's Troop - please please look after me and don't run away with me in front of all those people!

See you on 17th!
