Story
This year was the 9th year that Mothers Day came and went without me having my Mum here to send a card or flowers to.
9 years ago, my Mum, consumed with a severe mental illness, decided to take her own life.
Mental health problems can affect anyone, rich or poor, young or old, shattering the lives of those affected and the lives of the people close to them. One in four of us will experience a mental health problem at some point in our lives. Each year more than 250,000 people are admitted to psychiatric hospitals and over 4,000 people take their own lives.
On the 25th May, I will be running the London Bupa 10K in memory of my Mum, and also for every single person and family affected by mental health.
I aim to not just raise money, but help to inform others of these real issues that affect daily lives.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Mind - The Mental Health Charity will receive your money faster and, if you are a taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support - I’m off for a run….
Love Liz x
