Everest Base Camp Trek
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. Through this page and other activities I'm hoping to raise £4,500 for RP Fighting Blindness in memory of two special people, my gran and my dad.
With others, I'm going up the well trodden trail to Everest Base Camp in October to raise money for research into eye diseases of the retina. Kids and adults are affected by this family of eye problems. It's particularly heart-breaking when young kids have a positive diagnosis and their lives, and the lives of their parents, change track.
There are 6 trekkers from the UK side (BRPS Fighting Blindness) and we're teaming up with a contingent from our counterpart in Ireland (RP Ireland Fighting Blindness).
It's an exciting time for this area, with some really great work in progress by research groups around the world. In the UK, this includes collaborations spanning University College London, Moorfields Hospital and beyond. Check out some amazing recent results for one form of inherited blindness here.
I'll pay my own travel and accommodation expenses so everything you give will go towards BRPS Fighting Blindness.
