Great North Swim 2009 · 12 September 2009 ·

We’re your local hospice, supporting people with life-limiting illness across Cheshire West and Deeside. Our care is free, but only possible thanks to your support. We’re not part of the NHS and rely on local generosity to keep going. By donating, you ensure vital care lives on in your community.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Liz and Peter, always up for a challenge, have entered the Great North Swim which is one mile across Lake Windermere in chilly September.

We were inspired to do this in support of the Hospice of the Good Shepherd in Chester, by witnessing the fantastic care and support given to friends of ours recently.

The Hospice provides free specialised care for adult patients with incurable illnesses and support to their families from Ellesmere Port, Chester and Deeside. It has a multi-skilled care team who provide pain and symptom management and respite care so each patient can live life to the full within their capabilities.

Their running costs are over £6,000 each day and relies heavily on the local community for funding.

Having dug out the wetsuits from the attic, we now need to get into training. Knowing that your donations are helping us to reach our goal will inspire us to get cold and wet every week-end until 13th Septemer.

So please give what you can, and ask your friends and families to sponsor us.....and wish for fine weather on the day.

Thank You.

Liz and Peter
