On the 4th July 2009 a team of six canoeists are attempting to paddle a total of 37 miles on three of the UK's most well known lakes.
The challenge will start in North Wales at Llyn Tegid (Lake Bala) at noon on the 4th July, being the shortest of the three lakes at 3.5 miles this should be a good warm up for the day ahead.
A 148 mile journey by road leads to the next leg of the paddle, the 10.5 miles of Windermere will be a much longer and harder paddle than the first leg, and still less than half way through our aquatic travels.
Boats off the water and corned beef hash for everyone, a little time to recharge for the longest drive of the challenge, 282 miles later and hopefully around daybreak we arive at Fort Augustus and the get on for the longest and easily the scariest paddle of the challenge, 23 miles of cold deep water and that bloody great monster waiting to tip us out at some point.
We hope to finish Loch ness by 12 noon on the Sunday having started at 12 noon on the previous day
Thats the challenge, 37 miles of Llyns, lakes and Lochs ,430 miles of roads in 24 hours
Good luck to us all
