Last year, Action for Children helped 390,000 people through its 600 services. Some of these will be the 80,000 young people who find themselves homeless through no fault of their own. Next year, they would like to help even more.
So, that’s where we come in. On Friday, October 7th, a team of Leidos employees, along with thousands of other people around the UK, will be sleeping rough in support of Byte Night. This is the UK’s largest corporate sleep-out and is vital to support Action for Children’s services that are crucial in preventing youth homelessness, providing young people with the space, security and stability they need to get their lives back on track.
Each year, hundreds of people from the technology and business industries give up their beds for one night to support this cause. Byte Night began in 1998, when 30 individuals slept out in London and raised £35,000 and, since then, the event has grown to 10 UK locations with over 1200 sleeping out in 2015.
For a young person who has nothing, £100 is enough money for them to purchase new clothes, which could in turn help in getting a job and realising their potential. Just £10 would pay for basic toiletries or a hygiene set for a young homeless person.
Any donation to support the Leidos Dream Team (sic) would be greatly appreciated and, by donating to Byte Night, you can help those in danger of being forgotten and give them the opportunity to build a better life for themselves.
