Roger worked at Lockstown Practice behind the scenes for three years as a medical records summariser. He was diagnosed with N.A.S.H (non-alcoholic steatohepatitis or better known as non alcoholic fatty liver disease) about the same time. He passed away on 23rd March 2008 at the age of 69 as he was too old for a liver transplant. Ahh, lovely NHS!
There are over one hundred types of liver disease!
The Trust is based in Ringwood, Hampshire and has a small but dedicated team tackling a serious and growing public health problem affecting around two million people in the UK. This figure may only be the tip of an iceberg as many cases of liver disease remain undiagnosed.
They have dedicated resources for people with liver disease like their website, helpline and publications. Their aim is to reach out to as many people as possible by providing information and support, and lobbying for the services people with liver disease need. They have strong contacts with professionals in the field of hepatology that enable them to provide the most up to date information.
Roger was recently joined by his wife Val who sadly passed away on 2nd August 2009 with a brain tumour (Glioblastoma Multiforme), she was also 69 years old. Val had a personality larger than life, she made everyones troubles her own and was totally giving in nature. She was a mother of 3, a grandmother of 7 and a great grandmother of 2. She will be deeply missed by many. ************* Alas, Roger and Val are together again. ***************
