BUPA Great North Run 2008 · 5 October 2008 ·

The NKF is a National charity that provides support and information to patients, families and healthcare professionals affected by kidney disease. Our aim is to improve the quality of life and support kidney patients and their families as well as lobby for renal improvements.

Story

Thank you for visiting my fundraising page.

I have decided to run and raise money for kidney research because my brother suffered from kidney failure in August 2006 at the age of 29. He was on dialysis for a year before receiving a transplant in August 2007. My mum gave him one of her kidneys!

Thankfully they are both really well now, but something like that makes you realise how much money is needed not only for research into the disease, but also to pay for dialysis and medication before and long after the transplant (for those lucky enough to get one).

It also makes you appreciate your health a bit more and if my brother can endure hours of dialysis, a transplant and the taking of medication for the rest of his life then I can manage a half marathon!!

Please dig deep and sponsor me online. I also have sponsor forms if you would like to sponsor me, but not online.

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: National Kidney Federation will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks for your support.
