UPDATE

NEW YORK MARATHON 2009 (madness)

As you all know, I’m not one to do things by halves.  So true to form my first run after the accident will be right round the Big Apple.  By the way, I’ve heard that the Kenyans have dramatically increased their training regimes now this news has been made public.

I'm sure you will appreciate how hard running this race will be after the accident (you must do, I’ve told you all enough times)....and the fact that I am no natural runner (in case you hadn’t noticed) will make it extra tough.

But of course Lola is worth every second of it and her charity Chase deserves and needs all the support it can get.  So support me and in turn support Chase – an amazing organisation that does so much incredible for work for so many people.

CHASE are there to help share the pain and help people deal with what no parent should ever face.  I don’t want to go on into all the details, you know the situation and as a family we just have to get on with it.

CHASE also enables families to share time together, helping them to focus on the other children in the family by taking some of the strain.

Right now Lola is doing well and is in a new main stream school. So today, as ever, the motto is never give up (hopefully it’ll be same on race day).

Jesca (11), Lola's sister is also doing great, but she is coming to understand that her sister is unwell.  What she does not understand is that now she is a sister, but one day she will be an only child.

... how do you explain that?

Lola on the other hand just smiles and gets on with it, she believes she can do everything!  No matter how many times you tell her no...  she just keeps going (headstrong like her mother and father!).

One thing that my accident proves ... there is always someone worse off than you, so we should always do what we can for others.

Thank you to all our friends who have been there for Lola and of course us, it is very much appreciated.  All of our friends in this last year have helped in one way or another by donating or raising money for Chase children's hospice

CHASE Children's Hospice Service is dedicated to the support of children who are not expected to reach their 19th birthday. For these children there is, at present, no hope of cure, but they and their families still need care and support over the course of the life ahead of them. Ever since 1994 CHASE has been dedicated to the support of life-limited children and their families in Surrey, South West London and parts of  West Sussex . CHASE offers this vital service at no cost to the families 24 hours a day, every day of the year, in whatever way it is needed, emotionally or practically - at home or at Christopher's - the purpose built children's hospice just outside  Guildford . CHASE supports life-limited young people and their families without end... At diagnosis At home At Christopher's children's hospice Throughout bereavement for as long as help is needed

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: CHASE Hospice Care for Children will receive your money faster and, if you are a  UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please sponsor me now! Many thanks for your support.
