Loch Ness Marathon · 7 October 2007 ·

Venture Scotland runs a unique progressive outdoor-based personal development programme over 5 months for young people aged 16-30, who face complex and difficult problems daily. We build their confidence and skills to empower each of them to reduce harmful behaviours and make positive choices.

Story

Ladies and gentlemen, I did it!!!

I finished my virtual challenge on Sunday 7th October when I did the Loch Ness marathon.  I finished the marathon itself in a time of 3hrs 52mins and 17 secs, which I'm pretty pleased with.

Since starting out in London 8 weeks ago at the Hackney Marshes half-marathon (1hr 44mins), I've run and cycled a total of 583 miles, which is more than the distance from London to Inverness.

Along the way, I also completed Pedal for Scotland, cycling nearly 60 miles between Glasgow and Edinburgh. That took me just over 4 hours.

I'm delighted to have raised all this money for such a brilliant cause. I've been very lucky to be involved with Venture Scotland personally, and despite all the aches, pains, early starts, lost lunch hours, and so on, I'm very happy to have been able to do this for them.  I've seen first hand the impact they can have on the lives of disadvantaged young people, and it is worth every penny.

Thanks again for your fantastic help, support and generosity.  I'm off for a lie down.

Cheers, Sandy
