Story
Thanks for visiting my fundraising page. My name is Mark Scales and with the support of The Royal London Society for the Blind and Create Yourself: I’m running the London Marathon in 2009 and raising well needed sponsorship funds for my chosen charity - The Royal London Society for the Blind: An association which I have great faith in as they encourage blind and visually impaired people to seek employment, assisting them with advice, support, training and a shoulder to lean on.
I ran 5 hours and 19 minutes back in 2007, the year when everyone was told "good luck" and by the way this is the hottest Marathon for ten years. I’ve decided to do it again in 2009 and aiming for a much faster time.
I am visually impaired; my vision isn't what the majority of people would call the norm. I'm not special, I’m just me with an added special need and I needed a great deal of support when I decided to run 26.2 miles around London but I'm now starting to believe in myself. I'm going to run the London Marathon AGAIN! Some would call me a glutton for punishment, well they might be right, I’ll let you know. This time my running partner and guide and friend Michael Staddon and I will be training hard, raising money for the Royal London Society for the Blind and running London in 2009.
Stay up-to-date with my fundraising, training efforts and offer your support by visiting my blog.
Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Royal London Society for the Blind gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
So please sponsor me now!
