Story
On the 13th June 2012 I will embark on the biggest physical challenge of my life however this is nothing in comparison to the charity I intend to ride for.
I will cycle 300 miles from London to Paris in support of The Shooting Star Chase Children's Hospice.
Shooting Star CHASE is the children's hospice service, supporting local families with a child or teenager not expected to reach their 19th birthday. They currently help over 500 families living in western London, Surrey and West Sussex.
They are committed to caring for these families and are here for every step of their journey, sharing the good times, and helping them through the tough times with practical, nursing and emotional support.
Now I have a confession to make. It is true that I frequent a mountain bike every now and again but at the point of signing up I have never owned or ridden a road bike let alone ridden one for 75 miles a day for four consecutive days. Training will comprise of about 100 miles a week for the 20 weeks building up to the event.
How can I help? I hear you ask?
Well I am trying to raise over £2000 so any donation you give would be fantastic, and if you can gift aid it then that would be fantastic too.
For those with a social networking persuasion I intend to blog about the training and fundraising in the weeks and months building up to the ride and plan to supply pictures and updates via twitter and facebook as I do the ride.
Many Thanks
Andy
