3 Peaks Challenge · 21 August 2009

At Princess Alice Hospice, we provide exceptional end of life care in our hospice and in the community. We know we can’t prevent death, but we do whatever we possibly can to make it the best it possibly can be. But, above all, we believe that hospice care is for living.

Story

Hi all,

A group of hardy Londoners are embarking on the 3 Peaks Challenge to climb the three highest mountains in England, Wales and Scotland all in the space of 24 hours.  They are Ben Nevis (1,344m), Scafell Pike (978m) and Snowdon (1.085m) plus approximately 450 miles of driving to be done in between.  All costs involved with the challenge are covered by the team so every penny you donate goes directly to the charity.

We are raising money for the Princess Alice Hospice in Esher which does a fantastic job of helping cancer patients to be as comfortable and happy as possible as their conditions deteriorate.  It is a charity and place very close to my heart.

In 2008-2009, it cost £7million pounds to run the Hospice - for one year!!  They receive £1.74million from the NHS leaving £5.36m to be raised through the charity.  They have space for 28 in-patients and their team of community nurses visit approximately 750 patients PER DAY!

Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Princess Alice Hospice will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.

So please sponsor us now!

Many thanks for your support.
