5.4 million children across the world are currently trapped in orphanages – even though 80% of them have family they could live with if they had the right support. Orphanages harm children, depriving them of love and exposing them to abuse. Your support helps us get children to back to family.

Story

I've realised that I've got far too much energy for a normal person so I need to stop relaxing on my holidays and instead set myself a challenge!

So I've got two weeks off work to cycle from London to Berlin (about 1,000km) before completing my first marathon in Berlin on the 25th September!

My aim is to raise £2,000 for Hope and Homes for Children - £2 for every kilometre travelled, so any support you can give would be amazing. For example £30 could enable HHC to send a child to school for one year by helping to pay their school fees or provide the necessary uniform, books and equipment to put them on the road to a brighter future.

I've got an ambitious aim to do the marathon in under 3hours and 30minutes which I think will be tough after all that cycling. So if you want to give me an incentive why not commit to doubling your donation if I do it under 3hrs30?

As a thank you for sponsoring me, why not guess the time I will complete the marathon in and put it in the comments section. Then the person nearest to my actual time wins a bottle of wine!

Thanks for your support. Mike.
