Story
Clipper has been the most tough, exciting, scary, exhilarating, uncomfortable, inspiring thing I have ever done. Adrenaline-fuelled crises punctuate a year of slow-burn endurance. I'm on board Garmin, one of twelve 70-foot yachts racing around the globe in the world's longest circumnavigation.
Many people have asked me if I’m doing this for charity, and if they can make a donation. The honest answer is that I'm doing this for me, to take a year to recover and renew.
But if you would like to make a donation, then the charity I would choose is a small one - Rennie Grove - which operates in Hertfordshire and Buckinghamshire, providing care to cancer patients in their own home.
Their visiting staff came to our home as often as we needed them and provided my wonderful wife, Emily, with help, advice, counselling, massage, and beauty treatments and - when the time came - hospice level medical care.
I can't thank them enough for the difference they made.
Mike.
