Thanks for taking the time to visit 'The Loopy Lads' JustGiving page.
In January this year my daughter, Maddie Wilkinson died from a very rare yet aggressive cancer, Burkitts Lymphoma.Maddie was a happy, healthy, typically pink and fluffy 6 year old little girl, whose sudden death totally shocked us as a family and being a very popular member of St Wilfrid's Primary School, the whole community.
During Maddie's short illness (14 days) she received care from staff at Alder Hey hospital, this brought it home to us just how much an impact childhood cancer has in the UK. This year alone 1 in 500 children will be diagnosed with cancer, and of these tragically 30%, including my daughter, will not survive. This has a devastating effect on immediate and extended families across the country.
In an effort to help improve this tragic statistic, myself, Tony Wilkinson, along with Gary, Mark, Mike, Ian, Nev, Jon and Paul, will be taking part in the 100 Mile Lancashire Loop Cycle Challenge on Sunday 27th September.
Money raised will be donated to the children’s cancer charity KidsCan. A charity who are not only local to us, launched the same year Maddie was born but are the only cancer charity that specialize in children’s cancers and their treatments.
Our challenge, for which we would like your support - and more importantly your money - is a 100 mile circular bike ride through rural Northern Lancashire, ascending 5000ft during the route (yes, we must be mad!).
Thank You Again,
Tony Wilkinson & Team
