London to Paris Cycle Challenge 2009 · 9 September 2009 ·

Helen & Douglas House helps local families cope with the challenges of looking after a terminally ill baby or child who will die prematurely. We are a home from home for our patients and their families, and provide round-the-clock care in a warm, loving environment.

Story

Hi and welcome to my web page.

Firstly I would like to thank everyone that has already sponsored me so far.

Your support has been incredible and I am very grateful as without your help I probably will not be able to achieve this challenge.
So big yourselves up :-)

Please keep donating as much as you can as all the cash raised for this challenge will help the children on Helen&Douglas House enjoy the time they have left on this earth. Here's an exert of the H&D website:

"Helen & Douglas House requires over £ 4.5 million a year to provide the one-to-one, 24 hour care that is so crucial to the children, young people and families who need our help and we get little funding from the government. It doesn't matter how you give, or how much - every penny makes a difference"

Now, £ 4 million (it's worth about a big toe of Cristiano Ronaldo) is a significant amount to be obtained year after year only relying on donations and the monies raised will help buy food, furniture and help towards the carers needed by this wonderful "LOCAL" charity, for those who know me, I watched the league of Gentlemen in my tender years and used to quote them to levels never reached before (until Little Britain turned up)...

So please, before you exit this page and log on to eBAY, press the DONATE NOW button and sponsor me a least a couple of quids, If I was Darth Vader, I’d use the force, believe you me...

In terms of training, we have a very astute training schedule which consists of cycling (loads) and eating muesli bars on the way...Lorenz, this stuff is boring me no end...I know dearest readers, but that's what we do, cycle, eat and recycle.

My story starts in Switzerland, where I was born, continued in Italy until I was 11, then went back to Switzerland and moved to the UK in 1998 with a little parenthesis in Brazil for six months three years ago.

When I was a kid, my football coach used to call me Maradona, not so much because of y football skills but because I was short, chubby and sometimes I scored goals with my hand, let me reassure you, nothing to be proud of...

I adored playing football but a coupe of years ago, I had a nasty knee injury and after an operation I gradually stopped playing

but discovered cycling, low impact and great for discovering our awesome countryside and eating muesli bars on the way.

Why Helen& Douglas House?

Purely following a documentary which was very moving.
It is a Children’s hospice that welcomes children and young adults with life shortening conditions.

The other big factor is that they are just around the corner from where I live and make me feel part of our community.
We recently met the staff at H&D House and they are fantastic people, reinforcing my belief that what I will achieve is the right things to do.

Finally, I am kindly asking you to forward my link to anyone you know that might be interested in sponsoring me, friends, family, work places, etc…
If you would like more information, please contact me by email Lorenzo.carulli@gmail.com.

Please help me reach my target and sponsor me, without you, I am the chips without the fish, the bangers without the mash and a pub without a decent pint of Guinness…

Donating through Just giving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: The Great Ormond Street gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
