Many of you, will I am sure will be shocked to see that I am running the marathon-if I am honest I am rather shocked by myself too!! 
This has all come about because as many of you know- I lost my mother to cancer in the spring of 2007. This was not only a very distressing time in my life but also a very challenging one too. It was a challenge that I had not signed up to and not one that I wanted my mother to be challenging either. My mother had a very tough year and one that I shall never forget. If there’s one thing that my mother taught me along the way, it was to be strong and challenge all that you are faced with that no matter how big or small. I may have lost my way a bit since she has left, but this is to help get it all back together now.
When it all seemed too much and mummy was not able to be on her own anymore, Dorothy house came to her rescue at the last couple of days of her life. They took her and us in with warm and welcome arms. Even though behind every door there was a very sick person, this never showed. The nurses and doctors where just so normal, they took the scariness out of dying and made it a very peaceful place to be. The nurses would be there for any worries that one felt and would do their up most to reassure and explain how normal things are and not as scary as one thinks, believe me that is what you need when you are faced with the abnormality of loosing your mother. I have such admiration for the work that they do and I am eternally grateful that they were there for mummy and my family at the end. So I am showing my appreciation by raising money for Dorothy House. I want to give something back to them, so here goes!!!  Wish me luck and hope to see some friendly faces cheering me on …….I will need it!!
