sooooooo.... we did it!! The sun shone and the crowds came out too. In a fairly respectable 5 hours 9 minutes, we limped over the line! i would like to say it was awful, but to be honest I had a brilliant day! I will definately say it was the hardest thing I have ever done and would like to thank Syd for sticking with me and keeping my spirits up!! they did start flagging at 17 miles i have to say but from there on we ran and walked, which weirdly seemed to work for us as we did keep catching up to the same people we had been running steadily with and who had carried on running when we needed to walk or stretch.
The crowds were totally amazing, made us laugh, high fived us, cheered, shuoted, sympathised and fed us oranges and jelly babies which were seriously appreciated! I'd like to know wher the guys who promised us pints at the end are, but hey!!
25 miles brought me pain..... my knee decided it didnt like this game of being pounded for 5 hours and quit! nice ambulance men picked me up, iced me, tried to convince me to quit, tried to restrain me when i fought my way out of the ambulance, and then gave in! there was no way I was stopping now! I could litterally see the finish line, in the bright sunshine on the other end of the brighton sea front!! BEAUTIFUL!
Mum came all the way from Wales to cheer us on, and I have to say, as I crossed the line, bandage on leg, in absolute agony, I burst into tears, not from pain but from high emotion and asked where my Mum was!!!
All in all, we all had a great day. Syd thinks stubborness alone got us through the last quarter and he may well be right, as I have no idea how we did it!! Certainly not training!!
But just wanted to say a HUGE thanks to everyone who donated money to the cause and it really helped spur us on!! thanks thanks thanks!!
