When I was asked about being part of a team of girls that were setting themselves a challenge to walk a marathon I was really keen. I usually run to keep fit and have done lots of half marathons but I have never committed to do an actual marathon as I'm always really pressed for time and it just seemed a step too far. I am really pleased to have the opportunity of experiencing the whole marathon distance with a group of girls to keep me company along the way and to hopefully raise awareness (and some funds) for a selection of charities as part of the process!

 

I have chosen to support Keech Hospice Care who run much needed services for both children and adults near to where I live in Bedfordshire. For some time now I have donated my turn outs to their local shop and not thought too much about where the money actually goes until recently. My neighbour has fallen very ill with cancer and is reliant on the excellent services and support they provide, and the much needed care they give to her and her family at this very challenging time. I’ve seen staff from the hospice come and go to her house and it has really hit home to me that the contributions they get, really do make a difference to people.
