I DID IT !!!!
...and so did my fabulous son Fraser, who completed the Great North Junior Run (3 miles) in under thirty minutes.
Thanks to everyone who has contributed to that fabulous total, above - and it's not too late to raise even more money for Yorkshire Cancer Research. This page stays open until 19th December 2010.

UPDATE - it just got personal
My lovely anarchist birth mum has gone from "it hurts to wee" to "advanced ovarian cancer" in just six weeks.
She is not going to get better.
We lost and found one another once already. And after thinking we'd have years to really know one another, we find we've got months. We're going to make them crack. And I am going to run and run for the rest of my life (or walk, when it hurts too much), to make sure that ONE DAY no-one else has to go through this.
PLEASE SPONSOR ME (and if you've got lots of time on your hands, read the back story, below).

This year I'm running two half marathons for Yorkshire Cancer Research, which is sort of like running a whole marathon, if they weren't five months apart.
In April I ran the Sheffield Half Marathon in 2 hours 38 minutes and 16 seconds - just about the hardest thing I've ever done. In September, my running bud Tracey and myself will be on the telly in our bright green t-shirts, taking part in the Great North Run but don't be too disappointed with my time - training has been tough and I'll feel lucky to get in under three hours. We are also running the Great Yorkshire 10k (5th September), Clumber Park 10k (25th September) and Yorkshire Coast 10k (31st October). In between times, we are keeping fit by plodding around Wentworth and Elsecar, eating our own weight in Jelly Babies and 'competing' in a few 10k races.
Last year, my great friend John Chapman died of cancer and only a few months ago the extraordinary Karen Moore lost her own battle with the disease. Since then, it's got even more personal. One of the last things I promised John, having wimped out of racing in the Jane Tomlinson Leeds 10k in 2009, was that I would run for him, so here I am. I am 44, a still overweight (though a bit less than I was), stressed and over-committed mum. Eight months ago, I couldn't run for a bus and now I've run - more or less - 13.1 miles. So if I can do that, I'm hoping you can sponsor me. If every one of my Facebook friends sponsors me a pound, I've made my commitment to Yorkshire Cancer Research, who continue to make sure that we have a fighting chance.
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
