Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I'm doing a zipslide across the Tyne to raise money and awareness for the Stroke Association.
I didn't think much about Stroke until 17th September 2012, when my daughter had one at only a few hours old. I didn't even know that children had strokes, never mind newborn babies, I thought it was something that happened to older people.
Since that day I don't think one has passed without me thinking about it, and I think others should be more aware too. Had Emma been at home when she had her first seizures (the first indication of her stroke) I don't think she would even have been diagnosed.
Emma is lucky, aside from her epilepsy she shows no signs of disability from her stroke and she continues to amaze doctors with her development, and entertain friends and family on facebook with her craziness!
Others are not so lucky, stroke has a greater disability impact than any other medical condition. The Stroke Association funds research into prevention, treatment and better methods of rehabilitation.
If you'd like to support, please give as much as you can to help continue to raise awareness, and help those who have suffered a stroke to move on with their lives.
