In November, I will be travelling to Ethiopia's capital, Addis Adaba with a small team from Australia, Ireland and the UK to take part in The Great Ethiopian Run and raise much needed funds for the sight saving work ORBIS undertake around the world.

Whilst I know that I will enjoy the experience, this is not a holiday. This is an opportunity to use the education and good health that I have always enjoyed to help those who have not had such luxuries. By sponsoring me at the 2013 Great Ethiopian Run means that you will be giving the gift of sight.

All donations will go directly to ORBIS as I will be paying for my own costs such as flights etc. 

The Great Ethiopian Run

The Team will join over 36000 people who will take to the streets of Addis Ababa to take part in Africa's BIGGEST road race – a challenging 10km run at 10000ft above sea level. On the day, a huge variety of runners from all age groups and fitness levels take part. The event was founded by the legendary Haile Gebreselassie. This is a rare opportunity to participate alongside some of Ethiopia's finest athletes in the home of long-distance running.

  

Fundraising

Over the past five years ORBIS has raised almost €500,000 through participating in The Great Ethiopian Run. Following on from this phenomenal history of success, ORBIS is delighted to be taking part once again in 2013. With your help, we can raise yet more money for our sight-saving work in southern Ethiopia.

Please feel free to give whatever you are able to some of Ethiopia's poorest people. Of course, I will keep everyone up to date along the way!
