Flora London Marathon 2009 · 26 April 2009 ·

We raise funds for research that will lead to the successful treatment and eventual elimination of kidney disease. The lives of many people are seriously affected by kidney disease. Kidney failure is an extremely debilitating illness. Research is the only answer to find a prevention or a cure.

Story

Some research is especially critical

As crucial as market research can be, some research literally does save lives. Kidney research is a case in point – and the challenges faced by Thomas Lee (the former BHBIA chairman) brings this home to all of us. Renal disease in this country desperately needs investment, but kidney failure does not attract the same level of public interest as some conditions even though 1,000 people a year die waiting for a kidney replacement - currently their only option. So that’s why I am not just running focus groups this year, but running the London Marathon to support the South West Thames Kidney Fund.

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: South West Thames Kidney Fund gets your money faster and, if you’re a UK taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.  Just a couple of clicks and a couple of quid really will make a difference – and a lot less effort than running 26.2 miles!  So please sponsor me now!

Many thanks
