My story
Three generations walked 10k in the "Just Walk" event on Saturday 9th May 2009 - The South Downs, West Sussex.
Jozsef, Mummy Louise and Nana Pat (of course Jozsef was carried!) participated in the 10k walk to raise money for the Friends of P.I.C.U (Paediatric Intensive Care Unit).
It was a lovely sunny day 
and over 700 people participated in this event - to raise money for their chosen charities (approx £248,000 in total was raised for charities). The 10k walk was a family walk and lots of people were there, young and old.
We had an early start leaving the house by 7.45am which is an achievement with little Jozsef. We drove down to Goodwood - where the event was being held. We arrived at 8.30am Just in time to get ready and give Jozsef his 2nd feed - to ensure he was fuelled up for his walk!!! We then registered at 9.30am and was welcomed and encouraged by Acer Nethercott, who was part of Team GB's Rowing Team.
We started the walk at 10.10am, we walked some lovely routes, went over approx 6 turn styles in single file!! and even saw approx 20 deer! We had a lunch stop (approx 40mins - due to toilet queue!) afterwards we set off again - there were quite a few hills, which really made us puff!! This certainly got Mummy Lou's aching hips working - especially carrying Jozsef!! This has certainly given us a fitness push for Lou's wedding in August!!!
On route we had to do a nappy change and the 3rd feed. Little Jozsef was excellent and slept half way round, fed and then he faced out of his baby harness and watched the world go by!! Mummy had to shield the sun from Jozsef and ended up catching the sun on her arms, as it was quite warm.
We finally crossed the finish line at 1.50pm. Both Mummy Lou and Nana Pat had a lovely time - but was exhausted
, and was in need of a much needed Mr Whippy 99!!!! 
Why did we do this walk????
As you will all know, Jozsef was born on 11/12/08 10 weeks early and unfortunately on 14 January was taken into Southampton Paediatric Assessment Unit - where he was assessed as a very poorly baby. 
He had got an infection at 5 weeks old and the Doctors, Consultants and Nurses had to resuscitate Jozsef as he could not cope with the amount of treatment he needed to get well. After having spent 9 days in intensive care on a ventilator and 5 days in the children's ward - he came home on 28 January.
Jozsef is now 5 months old and now weighs 14lbs 5oz and loves his milk and now eats fruit and vegetables! of which Banana is his favourite!
We have no doubt in our mind that P.I.C.U saved our little boy's life and for that we are always truly grateful.

We would like to thank everybody that has donated, supported and encouraged us. We never in our wildest dreams thought that we would be able to raise over £3000 including the gift aid, we totally smashed our fundraising target - and it was all down to you our family, colleagues and friends.
We will be collecting all of our offline money that was raised over the next few weeks (so please have your money ready!) and once all money has been collected we shall be purchasing some life saving equipment for the PICU. We shall let you know what our money buys, as soon as we purchase.
If you have not had chance to sponsor us and still wish to do so - you have plenty of time as this site is open for a few more months!
