Thank you for giving to the LUCAS WAS HERE! fund raising appeal for the Jennifer Trust, the charity who have helped all Lucas' family immeasurably after Lucas was diagnosed with the terminal condition Spinal Muscular Atrophy (Type 1). Lucas Hannigan was born on 4th August 2008 and was diagnosed with SMA type 1 on 17th October 2008. He died two months later on 8th December 2008 when he was 4 months old.

1 in 40 people carry the SMA Gene. If both parents are carriers there is a 1 in 4 chance of their children being born with SMA. This has made SMA the #1 genetic killer of babies under 2 years old.
