Update 12/01/07 The building is now ours!
This is to say many thanks to all that sponsored me as we made it the building is now ours. We still however need funds for refurbishment so please dig dip in your pockets and help. I have to reach that 6,000 target.
Update (06/12/07) BEN NEVIS Climb As promised on the Wednesday 28th November myself and 49 others climbed the highest mountain in Britain, Ben Nevis at 1344 meters, (4408 feet) the total time to complete this climb was 7 hours 10 minutes which was 4 hours 35 minutes up and 3 hours 35 down.
TheBen Nevis climb was tough. a real test of endurance, determination and pure faith to reach the top. with all weather conditions against us rain, ice, wind, (up to 20 mph) snow, (blizzard conditions and sub-zero temperatures (-7ºC) we all were climbing knee deep but we ALL completed the mission. This climb was an unforgettable experiences that will last us all a life time.
First Mountain climb - SNOWDON - On Saturday 20th October I climbed two peaks. Snowdon the highest mountain in North Wales at 1,085m (3,560ft) and Garnedd Ugain the second highest peak which lies just over one kilometre north of Snowdon itself at 1,065m (3,494ft). This was a personal challenge to help raise more funds. Total time for this climb was 5 hours. 2 hours up and 3 hours down.
Why you ask?
I am helping raise 1.6 million to save the Peckham Helpcentre from closure so we can buy the building outright. This is another challenge but for ten years the Peckham Helpcentre has been more than a church - it’s a community hub where every year thousands of people receive help to overcome their problems and rebuild their lives. It is a counselling centre. A place for young people to receive direction for their lives. A caring hand to the elderly. Encouragement and healing for the sick.
The Peckham HelpCentre provides essential services to the community every single day, all FREE of charge, regardless of a person’s religion, race, or sexual orientation. Saving this building means that this work could continue, services could be enhanced and improved and a new youth centre can be opened which will help young men and women in Peckham with academic excellence and life skills.
I am honoured to be a part of this fundraising.
Many thanks for all your help.
