Dear all, Many thanks for your generous donations, they have meant a huge amount to us both and your support and encouragement has been invaluable. As many of you will have heard, Lucinda didn't not complete the full marathon and was pulled off at the 13mile point. Her lungs froze and the onsite doctor was extremely concerned she would contract pneumonia - not the best condition on the North Pole. Against all advice she tried to continue but physically was unable and is obviously massively devastated. The conditions were extremely tough, -40c not the expected (but still cold) -20c. Rupert was an incredible hero, after spending a good 1.5hrs with Lucinda in the sick tent he went out on his own and completed the remainder of the marathon for the both of them. It was an incredible achievement through ice hillocks, ice drifts, slush snow, hard ice - possibly every type of snow/ice you could imagine. So between the pair of them 39 miles were run!!! Having reached and breached the fundraising target they are so happy and grateful. An extreme honeymoon and not a relaxing one but one that has made a difference and was worth the challenge. All they can really say now is watch this space! No more extreme marathons but there is talk of balloting for the New York.................... Many thanks for all support and even sponsorship since the event has happened. With very best wishes Rupert and Lucinda
