Story

Late on the evening of Saturday 23rd July 2011 we (Lucy Pywell, Gareth Pywell and Alison Jackson (Team Jackwell)) will arrive in Wick, Scotland, yes right at the top, feeling ever so slightly nervous. We plan to ride our trusty steeds from John O' Groats to Lands End over the following 13 days, eating up 1021 miles and 52,000 calories.

You may be wondering why we opted to spend 13 days pedaling 1021 miles into the prevailing south westerly winds, when we could have opted to cycle south to north and have the wind on our backs all the way. We're wondering that too. But at first glance of the map it looked like it would be down hill all the way...

Or you may just be wondering why we opted to spend 13 days pedaling 1021 miles when we could spend our summer holiday on a beach somewhere hot. We're wondering that too.  But we didn't think you would sponsor us for being on a beach somewhere hot (if we have horribly misread the situation please let us know and we will gladly unbook our B&Bs). We thought you would be more likely to sponsor us if we followed through with our crazy plan.

We hope we are right. We are cycling for Macmillan Cancer Support and would be grateful for any sponsorship you are able to give. As you are probably aware Macmillan Cancer Support provides invaluable support, in so many ways, to people living with cancer.
