Story
Thank you for visiting our Great South Run fundraising page. You may be aware that neither of us are "natural runners" so you will appreciate that a 10 mile run is no mean "feet"!
We are raising money in particular for younger people with dementia, of which there are currently around 15,000 sufferers in the UK. You may have seen numerous press articles recently regarding the Government removing funding for the provision of ground breaking Alzheimer's drugs to thousands of sufferers. Our own personal experience has shown us that these drugs are key in delaying the onset of Alzheimer's. The financial cost of dementia to the UK is over £17 billion a year. Delaying the onset of dementia by 5 years would reduce deaths directly attributable to dementia by 30,000 a year. The Alzheimer's Society invests their donations in further medical research, care and support for sufferers and their families. So, please dig deep and sponsor this very worthy cause.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor us: Alzheimer's Society will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
Many thanks for your support!
