Coleridge Way 36 Mile Walk · 7 June 2014

Its prime purpose is to provide appropriate help, medical, financial and otherwise, to current and retired jockeys who are injured, unable to ride or in need.

Story

In April 2011 my fiancée Richard sustained a head injury whilst race riding at Taunton racecourse, with the help and support of the IJF he has made a remarkable recovery, without the support of this fantastic charity things may have panned out differently.

What the IJF do:-

The Injured Jockeys Fund was the brainchild of founding Trustee and past President John Oaksey in1964. Since then the Fund has helped over 1000 jockeys and their families, and has paid out more than £17m in charitable assistance. The charity helps to provide medical care,  consultations and regular treatment, including rehabilitation, physiotherapy and respite accommodation.

The charity doesn't just support Jockeys but also many others from different sporting backgrounds such as Jenny Jones (Bronze medallist at the Sochi Winter Olympics this year).
