2013 Great River Race · 7 September 2013

The Serco Foundation works with charities to help them realise their ambitions and achieve even more. Through our global initiative, ‘Every Child Everywhere’, and with the help of our employees, we are committed to playing our part in helping to give children the best start in life.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page to raise money for the Serco Foundation and local UK charity Whizz-Kidz.

On Saturday, 7 September I'll be joining 9 of my Serco colleagues in a bell boat (like a big canoe) to paddle 21 MILES up the Thames in the 2013 Great River Race. The race starts downriver in Docklands (near Canary Wharf) and we will paddle under Tower Bridge, and then under another 9 London bridges before finally finishing in Ham (Richmond).

Now - here's what makes this extra challenging: me and my team have little to no experience of paddling or steering a bell boat. Our team of 10 makes up 8 determined paddlers, 1 helmsman to steer and 1 spare to keep us focused and jolly (and perhaps offer the odd refreshment). We estimate we will have at least 5 hours of paddling ahead of us. It's not called 'London's River Marathon' for nothing!

So please support my madness and make a donation .

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity. So it’s the most efficient way to donate – saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
