At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thank you for visiting my page - if you've got this far I'm assuming you're planning on donating so thank you!

Let me give you a few reasons to please make your donation as generous as you possibly can:

- Most personally for me, my Gran has Alzheimer's Disease. She has deteriorated rapidly in the last few months - getting people mixed up, not remembering what she's been doing or where she is, and understandably having moments of extreme upset. In recent weeks it has become harder and harder to communicate with her on the phone as I can't tell what she is trying to tell me. This means I call less and then feel guilty about it. She can no longer look after herself and in the very near future my Gran will have to go into a home - something she will devastated about.

- 1 in 3 people over 65 will die with dementia. It's a scary stat - scary for all of us as it could be our grandparents, or moving forward our parents, siblings, partners, friends or ourselves. So if you don't support Alzheimer's Society for me or for a loved one then do it for your future self - helping the Society to fund research now could mean that you don't have to go through heartbreak in the future.

And lastly, I'm going to climb a bloomin' mountain!! What more do you want from me?! It's going to be hardwork, at altitude, roasting during the day and freezing at night. And I'm challenged with supporting 30 other trekkers to summit as well as myself!

And to reassure you, the tour operator are paying my trip costs as charity rep so 100% of your sponsorship money will go to Alzheimer's Society's vital services for people with dementia.

Thank you in advance.

Love,

Lucy xxx
