Story

(Firstly apologies for the delay in the update, I was waiting for all the donations to come in.)

Well on September 14th, myself, my friend Claire & my cousin Paul, successfully completed the Notts half marathon, in some very respectable times. And thankyou to eveyone who came out and shouted, waved, sang and sprinted at the side of us to provide refreshments....it was much appreciated!

And I am thrilled & very proud to say that together we have raised a staggering £7,320.16!!!This is made up of donations from all of you, friends & family of Claire & Paul, and also alot of people that gave cash & cheques to my mum & dad directly.

Our initial goal was to raise around £1500 so that every room in the ward had it's own fridge. But with everyone's incredible generosity we are able to do so much more.

The fridges have been ordered and will be delivered in the next month. We are also in the process of getting Freeview put in every room so that the children can watch their much loved CBeebies. With the money that is left over we are planning to buy special thermometers that can take the temperature from their ear, avoiding having to wake them up to put the paper thermometers under their arm, and lots of new toys & books for when the new play specialist starts on the ward in the next couple of months.

Me, mum & dad, Charlie and his family (including Winnie) would like to say a massive thankyou to all of you for your generosity. And it's very cliche, but every penny really does help; £100 buys a fridge, £30 buys a thermometer & £3 buys a book, and it's these simple things that make a massive difference to both the children & their families when they have to visit/stay at the Tony & Guy Ward.

Charlie's first year of intensive treatment will finish at the end of January, and then he will start two years of maintenance treatment.

Charlie is a very brave little boy, and he continues to deal with the chemo, blood tests and medicene in his usual cheerful way; with a big grin, sometimes a burst of song and a touch of glamour (courtesy of his sister painting his fingernails!).

Thankyou again to everyone
