On 26th April I will be running the London marathon... and on the 26th June I'm cycling 100 miles across Dartmoor... I hope to live to tell the tale. I'm hoping to raise at least £1500 for STAR (Student Action for Refugees) to enable them to continue helping students to carry on vital work with asylum seekers and refugees, who come to our country to escape such awful experiences I can't begin to imagine. Unfortunately, prejudices here, compounded by negative media, often mean that these people who come here to seek sanctuary because they really have no other choice, often face further hostility and discrimination.

By working with students all over the UK, STAR support campaigns to improve understanding, childrens' projects, and work with other organisations such as the Medical Foundation for the Care of Victims of Torture. Working with STAR has been an amazing experience and getting to know people living in Plymouth who are seeking asylum, or have already gained refugee status, has been fantastic. I have been priveleged to have met such warm-hearted, wonderful people.
