Story
My inspiration for this adventure has been a seven year friendship with a very special little girl, Rosie. She was born with a rare genetic condition and is severely disabled. She has many debilitating medical ailments, spends much time in hospital and needs round the clock care. Through Rosie I have learnt about Little Bridge House which is part of Children's Hospices South West . Rosie, her mother Fiona and brother Eddie are one of 150 families who can stay at Little Bridge each year. It provides the only break from home that Rosie can have with her family. If she is not well, the highly trained staff can provide the relevant nursing care taking some of the responsibility from Fiona. It also provides essential support to Eddie as it gives him a chance to let off steam as he has activities organised with his own dedicated ‘sibs team’. The hospice is an invaluable part of the families life, places are very restricted and obviously funds have to be constantly raised to meet the expenses.
I feel I am very lucky to have three very fit and healthy children and now I want to give something back. Hence the trip to Peru! For me this is a huge personal challenge, firstly to leave Drew and the children for ten days and secondly as I must be one of the most unfit people I know!
Alongside training and organising the family the most important part of this self funded walk is to raise as much as I can for Children’s Hospices South West. The hospice needs approx £3m each year to keep going and my goal is to raise £5,000 before I depart. So please, I am asking everyone I know to be as generous as they possibly can to help keep the children’s hospice running for all sick children .Thank you for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Children's Hospice South West will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you.
So please sponsor me now!
Many thanks for your support.
