Story
Hey Supporters!
Sitting on the bus from Charing Cross heading towards the park I couldn't help but begin to feel rather anxious, from up high I was able to see some of the main roads were closed and people with event team t-shirts! Many thoughts of, can I pace myself, will I make it? What time will I manage? went through my head!
It was all very well organised. I found my start area, great atmosphere and the start gun went off with a loud bang!
Around mile 3/4 between Temple and the Embankment, I spied Emily, James and William with their Dad all cheering me on! The next person I saw was CT - my bro in law, at Queen Elizabeth Gate, which was a lovely surprise! Spurred on with thoughts of all the support and encouragement from my friends and family I kept going!
The hardest slog for me was between 6.5 and 7 thinking am only half way! It was pretty hot and not too much shade to be found... the sound of everyone's feet pounding the ground was quite amazing, like one big Army! Between mile 8 and 9 my family were there again shouting for me, a big boost at this stage!
The last little bit before reaching mile 11 was tricky as was a slow incline when all I wanted to do was power out and get home!!
On the last little stretch, I could see the gang once more and that was enough to get the legs moving at a quicker pace before reaching the final 500 metres with an abrupt stop once through the finish!! The feeling was fantastic, wanted to go around hugging everyone and say well done! How do you feel?!
Thank you for helping me to go beyond my target and raise funds for such a good cause.
See you all soon for a drink or two!! Love Lucy xx
