Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In an 'I could easily do that' moment I have decided to support the Manchester United Foundation by doing a Sahara Trek that is taking place in Morocco in November.  Having had surgery on my knee earlier this year it is giving me the additional motivation through the rehab and also means I can at last give something back.

The Manchester United Foundation supports global charities such as UNICEF plus national and local charities such as the Children's Society and the Cystic Fybrosis Trust as well as a local children's hospice and rehabilitation centre.

This challenge will take me beyond the Jebel Saghro region, a forbidding landscape punctuated by stark peaks, formidable gorges and bright oases.  Situated south of the Atlas and Dades Gorge, the region was originally volcanic and the last defence before the Sahara.  This is the land of the famous Ait Atta tribe, a nation of great warriors who migrate here from the High Atlas Mountains in the winter.  Led by Hassou Ba Salem, the tribe resisted French Occupation and retreated to the rocky stronghold of Jebel Bou Gafer in 1933.  It will also include a challenging climb up Jebel Lamrakeb.

However, undoubtedly my biggest challenge will be sleeping in a tent and enduring none of my home comforts for a week.  If I survive the walk the lack of grooming will be a bigger hurdle.... my hair may never forgive me.  Fear not, I will not let you down if you decide to sponsor me.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.  No, it won't work.... if you offer to double your money, it cannot be arranged for me to join a nomadic tribe!! ;-)

Thanks in advance
