Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

My name is Luke Warner. I am 19 years old and am currently doing a full-time Higher National Diploma in Public Service Management at Brooklands College in Weybridge.

In March 2010 I will be setting off on an amazing trip to Nepal where I will trek to the Base Camp of Everest. This adventure will start in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal from where I will catch a flight to Lukla and head off into the mountainous regions of the Sagamartha National Park.

This, for me, will be an opportunity of a lifetime and in doing so will be raising much needed money for the Woking and Sam Beare Hospices and the British Heart Foundation.

However, I am unable to achieve this goal on my own as I need to raise £5000 for the charities to benefit. Some of the money raised will cover the cost of the expedition and the rest will be split evenly between the two charities mentioned.(more information on these charities can be found below)

The more money I am able to raise, the more these two very worthwhile charities will benefit. Any donation, big or small, would be greatly appreciated, it all adds up.

More information about the expedition can be found at www.steps2everest.co.uk

Charities:

Woking and Sam Beare Hospices- Is self funded and has to raise £4.9m per annum to keep thier hospice doors open which provides care for terminally ill patients and thier families. The hospice provides care for people aged 18 and over who have a life time threatening illness. The money raised for them will help them maintain nurses working for one year and aid in recruiting other much needed nurses for the hospice in the local community.

The British Heart Foundation- Every day they save lives, through pionerring research, providing vital information to help people reduce heart health risks, campaigning for change and supporting and caring for heart patients. The money raised will go towards child health education to get children leading more active lives and the importance of eating healthy food. Child obesity is on the increase in the UK and has risen tenfold over the last 10years. The BHF is committed, as we all should be, in getting children active and away from TV and computer games and eating real, healthy and nutritious food, not the junk food that is being advertised by profit hungry junk food corporations.
