Updated on Apr 26th 2012 at 20:27 AM from the JustGiving API

**WE DID IT**

We successfully completed the London Marathon last Sunday and want to say a BIG THANK YOU to all who have supported us....it was an EPIC day which I really enjoyed. The crowds were incredible, lining the streets the whole way from all ages handing out sweets and fruit which was a welcome boost. Great to have our friends come up to cheers us on from various places along the route which kept us going.

We started strong on track for our 4h30m time but Nick came into the marathon with a muscle & tendon tear which really started to take its toll with about 5 miles to go but we completed in high spirits at 5hrs 16mins. Another great unexpected achievement was smashing our fundraising target!

Trouble is now I feel the need to beat my time...maybe next year :) **

Updated on Apr 18th 2012 at 11:44 AM from the JustGiving API

Just a quick update: Luke pulled out a pb half marathon time in the B'mouth Bay run of 1.59h. Both of us have been seeking various treatments to iron out out ailments but it's now a case of mind over matter! Last week is spent resting & carb loading which we're both enjoying :) Massive thanks to all those who have got us so close to our fundraising target....just £169 to go!!

Updated on Mar 22nd 2012 at 08:45 AM from the JustGiving API

**A big thanks to my family, friends & colleagues who helped me raise £600 cash (you know who you are) and thanks to our incredible cake sale & contribution matching by my employer JPMorgan I have just submitted £1,200 towards the cause. :-) **

Updated on Mar 18th 2012 at 16:17 AM from the JustGiving API

**We had been supposed to be running the New Forest festival of running 20 mile race but with one eye on our various injuries we downgraded our entry to the half marathon. I think its safe to say we were worried about actually finishing without leaving various body parts littering the course let alone putting in a good showing on the score board and we have been pleasantly surprised with our 2 hours 20 ish finish especially when you take in to account it was actually 14.5 miles not the 13.5 it was supposed to be and that most of it was over hills and cross country. Well done us! The up shot of that is that Luke has a black toe nail and knees that sound like an old creaky door being closed when he walks and Nick has had an MRI on his groin which is far less fun that it sounds. No pain, no gain.**

Updated on Mar 7th 2012 at 09:43 AM from the JustGiving API

**We're Falling Apart - In short it’s beginning to take its toll as we are both picking up injuries as the distance increases, i’ve had nearly 3 weeks off resting & Icing my foot each day due to Plantar Fasciitis (inflammation of the tissue on the base of your foot).
First week back to running, having now been given the all clear by the Physio, and I have to say results are looking good.

As for Nick....well...his Physio has described him as a ‘biomechanical nightmare’! He has had specialist shoe insoles made to limit the impact on his hip & is fast running out of Physio sessions, but I hear a cortisone injection is on the way! But we're staying focused & positive to push on with just 7 wks to go to the big day...Thank you for your continued support :) **

Updated on Feb 3rd 2012 at 18:23 AM from the JustGiving API

**Wow what a very successful bake-off we had today...a big thanks to all those who baked, we had a huge amount of cakes & savouries which went down a treat here at JPMorgan. A special thanks to Nick’s sister-in-law for here incredible icing work. (see pic). But most importantly a HUGE thank you to all those who have tucked in and sponsored us today...you will be pleased to hear we raised nearly £300! And of course JPM will double this :) Great result. **

Updated on Jan 24th 2012 at 10:43 AM from the JustGiving API

**So we have completed the first of our long runs, 15.2 miles to be exact, in 2 hours 40 minutes. The weather was kind to us again and made our run from Hengistbury Head to Sandbanks and back as pleasurable as running 15 miles on a Saturday morning can be. No negative effects other than achy legs and a slightly worrying addiction to glucose energy tablets. We are learning a lot about when we need to re-hydrate, when we need to take on energy stuff and also which toilets on the prom are open at this time of year! Our training distances start to ramp up now, 15 last week then 18, 20 and then a 22 miler before the big day which is starting to seem very close indeed!**

OUR STORY:

Nick Fernand and Luke Dyson are running the 2012 London Marathon to raise money for charity. We are aiming to raise £4,024 for the very worthwhile ‘Round Table Children's Wish’ charity who grant wishes to children with life threatening illnesses and give them that little bit of magic they deserve.

Built for comfort and not for speed Nick and Luke, who are marathon virgins, have their work cut out and are training hard to complete this challenge on foot and not in an ambulance, we have even given up drinking beer in the week to show our commitment and that’s not a decision we have taken lightly. Please help us by offering to sponsor us or just by not laughing and pointing as we jog past on our regular lunchtime training sessions.

Every Wish request is that of the child’s choosing – it could involve fulfilling a lifelong dream or it could simply offer an opportunity to bring some much needed normality back into their lives.

The charity has brought a smile to the faces of hundreds of children and young people who are suffering from life-threatening illnesses, your donation can help continue creating some special moments & memories......So please dig deep and donate now.

Thank you for your support...remember you can also donate by TEXT MSG: Just text 70070 with RTCW70 followed by the amount (£1,2,3,4,5 or £10)
