Lifeworks is the collective name for all the services and facilities of The Bidwell Brook Foundation

Lifeworks aims to tackle exclusion, disadvantage and inequality concerning children and young adults with learning difficulties.

Founded in 1996 by a group of parents, teachers and carers, Lifeworks has blossomed into a well-established organisation with a reputation for care, quality and compassion. Lifeworks runs a variety of projects dedicated to providing learning-disabled children and young adults with the confidence and life skills that ensure a self-sustainable future, that promote a fluid transition into adulthood, and that encourage their inclusion in the community as valued and active members.

My story

As some of you know, some of you didnt know & now all of you know I am along with my bro Simon, going to be attempting our first half marathon (13.1 miles). I have choosen to conquer this distance in running the Torbay Half Marathon on Sunday 21st June 2009. But I didnt want to just run it, I wanted to run it for charity & for a worthwhile local charity. So I have choosen to run for Lifeworks. These guys look after young people with learning difficulties who are in need of respite and life skills training. Stuff that we all take for granted in our own lives...like dressing, washing, going for a walk and buying things in shops are really difficult for these kids. Lifeworks runs the Robins Respite Centre situated in Dartington which gives families a much needed break from 24/7 caring and the kids get to meet others and do new things that they never thought possible for them. So please sponsor me now! It will mean alot to me, also Rachel (as she used to work there) & most importantly Lifeworks.
