Thanks for visiting my page. "So, i finished the marathon in 4 and a half hours. An hour off my original target, but i was naiive to think just because i could run 10k at a good pace i could progress to a marathon in such a short space of time. I picked up a knee injury 7 weeks before the race. So, for these 7 weeks i wasn't running and instead endurance training on bikes, hoping to let the knee/impact injury recover with enough time for the race. On the day of the marathon, after 2km, the exact same pain magically appeared on my opposite knee which had caused no problems previously. So i switched my knee support from one leg to the other and effectively ran off one leg for the rest of the 40km. At the half way point i LITERALLY couldn't walk and the only reason i initially carried on was the fact i was so far from the centre of town where the race started/finished. God knows how i actually finished, but really pleased with myself none the less. It's now 5 days later and after a trip to A&E last night, although i can barely walk still, i have been told i haven't fractured any bones in my foot. The ironic thing is that my feet and knees hurt all over, except in the place where i was injured 7 weeks ago, which shows what time for recovery can do. Next time i'll have to prepare with a bit more time." Please sponsor me and help out in this is a very worthy cause.
