My story
My name is Luke Drummond and I am 14 years old. In late July 2008 I am cycling Lands End to John O'Groats for a reason thats close to my heart.....
Unfortunately my Grandfather died earlier this year from a “major heart attack”. We had just spent the week skiing together. Through out the week he had been complaining about indigestion pains, I didn’t take this as signs that my Grandfather was having chest pains. Reading back into his diary I know now that he thought he might be having a cardiac event of some sort, but didn’t tell me and get himself to a doctor as he didn’t want to spoil my holiday. I don’t want other people to have to face the situation I am in now, having been the last to see him, not picking out the symptoms of a heart attack, have made me feel rather guilty. I know that his life would have been saved if he had gone to hospital, as this is what the BHF is all about, researching into this life changing disease, the support the charity gives to diagnosed suffers as well as the valuable education work so that they unlike me will be able to diagnose a heart attack and treat it correctly. I know that my Grandfather, being a doctor would be proud of me for doing this ride and cycling for such a great cause.
The ride has also been a personal achievement I have wanted to complete since the age of 12, but due to logistics and I couldn’t.
Having spoken to family members, this seemed the right time and reason to do it. For a good cause, for a life threatening disease.
So please, please, please do sponsor me! It is going to a great cause, and one I am sure we have all been affected by!
Donating on here is pretty easy and is 100% secure, it is also most probably the most efficient way of sponsoring me because the BHF get the money a lot quicker! If you’re a UK tax payer, please do add gift aid on....its free to you but gives the BHF and extra 28% of funds valuable to the operation of the charity!
Thanks again,
Luke Drummond!
